Bonjour everyone! I’ve been neglecting my LNA friends recently, but now I need your help. My USA LNA needs font brake calipers and a new master cylinder. Were those calipers unique to the LNA, or were they shared with any other Citroën? Where is a good source to order brake parts from? Merci! I’m still in tbe process of getting my LNA registered here in America and I was all set to take it to the Department of Motor Vehicles when the brakes locked upon me. ☹️

Hey Smile

I have no idea. I assume some peugeot 104 should have that. The master cylinder looks comon to the Visa's (probably the 104 too)
You have a floating caliper ?
Can't you just disassemble the caliper and take the piston out ? Just by cleaning the pistons (the blackish sticky dirt is easy to remove) and the caliper, you could give your front brakes a new go. The seals are quite resistant, there shouldn't be any problems with them.

In you don't feel like it (or if it's deader than dead), here is a couple of good french sites for that :

yakarouler.com
calipers : [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]
MC (lol) : [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir ce lien]

You can try mister-auto.com too (it now belongs to PSA, they finaly understood that they get more money with reasonable pricing)

It’s the fixed caliper. It has 2 pistons, one on either side of the disc. I cleaned them enough to get them to release, but they get stuck again when you depress the brake pedal, so I think new calipers are the way to go. Thanks for the links. That place seems to have everything. I’ll just have to see if they will ship to America.

I ended up finding a rebuilt pair of calipers from a fellow who owns a Visa here in the States and they seem to have done the job. I actually finally got U.S. plates today!

J'ai fini par trouver une paire d'étriers reconstruite d'un boursier qui possède un visa ici aux États-Unis et ils semblent avoir fait le travail. J'ai finalement eu des plaques américaines aujourd'hui!

Super. cheers

I did, yes. So, now we know there's at least 2 of us over here. This is his Visa.

I love the pig snout. That's how I'd want my Visa. We do have an enthusiastic minority over here with good taste, yes. Not everyone drives an SUV.

Surprising how you can keep the old plates under the new ones....
Can you drive on roads like that, or is it just to add an "old french vintage taste" on your cars during exhibitions?

And how are considered "ours" cars in the states? Are they recognized as 70's french cars (I mean, are they well known like a mini or a trabant), or does the typical american guy think they are just small cars from middle ages and/or from under developped country ?

Most people here do tend to leave the Euro plates underneath because it's cool to see the heritage. Plus, since they're often riveted on, it's just easier to let them be. I've never heard of anyone getting pulled over for doing it, so I guess the police don't care. I think you're actually supposed to turn them in when you export the car. They asked for them when I was at the port, but I didn't have any tools with me to get them off, so they just said to forget it.

No one here knows what the LNA is unless they were originally from somewhere where they were sold. My parents' neighbor had a fellow working on their house who was French, and he was really excited to see it because his mother had one. But, other than that, the LNA and Visa are pretty obscure to us. Like I'm sure how some American cars that are common here are to you. Other French cars like a DS, or a 2CV people do know. Peugeots people remember. Some Renaults. I used to drive a Renault 5 and everyone remembers the "Le Car" as it was called here.
